As an employer EDM recognise that the nature of our business has a potential to impact negatively on the environment, particularly where we use specialist cleaning materials. Use of such materials is under our direct control, and it is our policy therefore to minimise the use of harmful products and to use environmentally friendly products and procedures wherever possible.

Our environmental policy is an important element to our ethos and we look to fully communicate and co-operate with our clients to ensure that the cleaning services we provide; both new and existing are assessed for their environmental impact.

EDM Cleaning recognise and accept its obligations to ensure that the environment is not adversely affected by our activities. We are committed to removing harm to the environment and are always open and looking for processes or practices that may have a positive impact on the environment.

As far as we are reasonably able to do so we take steps to meet our environmental responsibilities, paying particular attention to:

  • Provision of sufficient training, information, and supervision to enable our employees to actively contribute positively to the environmental upkeep whilst undertaking their work.
  • Establish goals to achieve an on-going reduction in environmental conflict in all parts of the company’s undertakings.
  • Review and revise if and when necessary our practices and processes to incorporate new materials and technology throughout our service range.
  • Use of environmentally friendly equipment.
  • Safe arrangements for the use, handling, storage and transportation of equipment and materials, which may have an impact on the environment.
  • All waste is disposed of by licenced waste contractors at appropriate waste disposal sites.
  • Observe and comply with all relevant environmental legislation, associated regulations and best practice legislation relating to environmental issues.
  • Waste materials are minimised and recycling options promoted.
  • Pollution of air, ground, river and coastal water is prevented.
  • The pollution of noise is adequately controlled.
  • Water, paper and energy is conserved, whenever possible.
  • Wildlife, habitats, flora & fauna, archaeological and heritage sites are protected.
  • All incidents considered detrimental, or potentially detrimental, to the environment will be investigated and reported and appropriate preventive action will be taken to prevent recurrence.
  • Continual improvement and prevention of pollution of the environment.

It is our policy to communicate with all our staff and workers the importance of environmental issues and ways to protect it.  We encourage employees to bring any environmental issues to the attention of our Supervisors, Contract Managers and Director.
